How to Build a Web Page – 4 Mistakes To Avoid In Building A Web Page

How to build a web page is a widely searched topic on popular search engines such as Google, Yahoo, and MSN- just to name a few.

In fact- If you were to type in the phrase “How to build a Web Site”, or “How to Make a Web Site”, you will surely get millions of results.

This goes to show that there are many people on the internet who are desirous of building a web page or site in order to maximize on the exposure that is available on the World Wide Web.

As a matter of fact… You are probably one of those curious searchers who want to know the ‘nuts and bolts’, so to speak of creating your web site.

BUT! And there is a big BUT!

You see, in order to really be different and stand above your competitors (especially if you building a web business online) it is essential that you do not make the following four common mistakes seen on many web sites that I have visited.

1. A lack of keyword research – If you’re not doing some kind of keyword research, you are just “taking a stab in the dark.” A resource such as the Google Keyword tool is very useful-And it’s FREE! Don’t just target one keyword related to your niche; Brainstorm other related words that have a reasonable amount to search volume.

2. Little to no internal linking structure – A list of random pages, popular pages and recent pages that appear on every page of your site is an excellent way to improve the internal linking structure of your site, which in turn helps the SE spiders crawl your site quicker and also spreads authority throughout your site. If at all possible every page on your site should be within 2-3 clicks from the homepage.

3. Overused banners – A website full of banner ads will be irritating and definitely a ‘BIG TURN OFF’ to the visitor. I am sure you want your viewers returning to your web site, so stick to the path of having less banners.

4. Unclear purpose – Stay focused to the purpose of your site and don’t get side tracked. If a visitor has to ponder what your site is about- you have created a website maze. Remember, your objective is not to confuse the viewer, but to provide valuable content.
